About Me.

I am Cesar Bueno. Having embraced the UK as my home for over two decades, I've been surrounded by the warmth of my family. Driven by a profound love for human connection, I embarked on a journey in therapy. Witnessing individuals uncover their potential brings me profound joy. Since completing my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2015 awarded by the C P C A B (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body), I've been dedicated to private practice, alongside placements at The Awareness Centre, NHS Surgeries, and TTP Drugs and Alcohol (Deptford-London). Today, I undertake training in clinical supervision.

I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. MN: 00761457

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a relational process.
The connection between you and your therapist creates a safe space where avoided or repressed emotions can begin to surface. As these feelings emerge, so does the anxiety associated with them—along with the unconscious avoidant behaviours you’ve developed to manage that discomfort.

While these defences may have once served a protective purpose, over time they often contribute to the very issues that bring people to therapy. Relying on avoidance to escape emotional pain can lead to deeper struggles and recurring symptoms.

Our goal in therapy is to help you recognize how you avoid your emotions, gently support you in experiencing them in the present moment, and guide you toward healthier ways of processing and expressing your feelings. In doing so, you may begin to notice a reduction in anxiety and other distressing symptoms.

How Do I work?

The ultimate goal of my work is to help you achieve autonomy to face the challenges in life with confidence and empowerment, and I want you to achieve it fast.

My primary approach is Mindfulness-Based Experiential Therapy (MBET), which integrates various modalities including Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy by Dr. Habib Davanloo, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy by Diana Fosha, mindfulness, neuroscience-based techniques, and CBT interventions. The interventions used in my work are intended to deepen the emotional processes in the body, resulting in a faster reduction of anxiety, depressive symptoms and a positive attitude towards life’s challenges.

Recognising the uniqueness of each client, I customise interventions to provide a personalised therapeutic experience. Together, we identify the challenges you wish to address, set goals, and define the desired outcomes, which I call the therapeutic task. The aim is to help you face your feelings, manage anxiety, and understand the beliefs that shape your reality.

What to Expect?

We will schedule our first session, which lasts between 2 to 3 hours. This initial session is crucial as I will gather information about why you are seeking therapy, allowing us to set goals and determine our approach to resolve the difficulties you have been experiencing. After the first session we will have goals and defined tasks to accomplish the work.

From the second session onwards we aim at meeting for one hour, re-evaluating the progress every 6 sessions, to make possible adjustments to the process.

I offer online sessions via Zoom and in-person (LU5 Area- Dunstable).

Sessions are in English or Portuguese.
